My life is a wonderful road trip into the unknown, fueled by a bottomless well of belief and faith.
November 2014 I was diagnosed with colon cancer, stage 3. That day has become my personal point of reference as to when I found myself letting go and letting God.
I remember walking the hallway to the doctor’s clinic and feeling – really feeling – that Jesus was walking beside me. I was scared, but I knew He was with me.
Fast forward 8 months later, I jumped the line at the cancer center to signify the end of my treatments. The nurses clapped and wished to not see me again – not there anyway. It was Jesus who carried me through all the hospitalizations and medications. When at first He walked beside me, during the duration of my treatments He carried me.
I was able to go back to work – but a year or so back in, I was let go. I felt Jesus sitting beside me when I was told the news. He was the reason why I was calm despite the inner turmoil brought about by the uncertainty. I just felt He had plans for me.
Fast forward to 8 months after, I landed a stable job. People who have been with me through the uncertain times celebrated the news with me. I know it is Jesus who made this all happen. He held me when I wanted to give up. He made sure I got little pockets of minute successes every now and then. He sat beside me the day I lost my job, and He pulled me up until I am capable again.
He has never stopped providing for me. In fact, He has not provided as much as He did as when I was in my seasons of challenges and difficulties.
Most times, it is easier to raise our hands in defeat and declare that we are a failure. Most times, it is easier to claim that He has forgotten about us and that He does not hear our cries. Most times, it is easier to not believe in Him at all.
What we fail to recognize is that it is during these seasons of trials that God is able to move mightily and powerfully in our midst. It is during these times that He is able to bless us abundantly more than what we ask for. We just need to BELIEVE and have FAITH.
Matthew 21:22 (NIV)
“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
